Building behavioral intelligence
In the best product rooms, the customer has always had a seat at the table. It is a reminder that every important product decision should begin with the people the product is built for.
As AI changes how software is built, software teams can now move from idea to production faster than ever. Once software begins to build itself, knowing what to build and how people will respond becomes the bottleneck.
Primitive Labs is building behavioral intelligence for AI-native software. Generic intelligence designs for averages. Real humans are not averages.
Our mission is to make human behavior a first-class primitive of software development.
We are building new simulation architectures, memory systems, and agent interfaces for behavioral intelligence. Our research is centered on formal state modeling, computational cognitive science, and training methods such as continual learning, with the goal of helping AI systems model human behavior with high fidelity.
Primitive Labs was founded by former members of Amazon Artificial General Intelligence and Amazon Web Services. Together, our team helped launch foundation models, AI agents, and machine learning infrastructure services, while working alongside frontier AI research labs, Fortune 500 companies, and some of the world's fastest-growing startups.
We were shaped by the same lesson that great products begin with the customer. As AI changes how software is built, we believe that lesson matters more than ever.
We are grateful to be supported by a16z speedrun, Olive Tree Capital, Unexpected Investments, and Cloverfield Fund. We are also supported by an incredible group of strategic angels including David Luan, Josh Constine, Harsh Patel, Artur Kiulian, as well as operator angels with backgrounds from OpenAI, Amazon, Google DeepMind, Databricks, NVIDIA, Meta, and other leading AI and technology companies.
We are hiring exceptional people to join our team. If keeping humans at the center of AI is the problem you want to spend your time on, see our open roles. We plan to publish research and open-source tools along the way. To collaborate, find us at @primitivelabsai or email research@primitivelabs.ai.
